Poor Pete. He was nice enough to let me substitute another photographer for a wedding (out in the sticks) I was supposed to shoot with him that afternoon so I could do this.
So what do I do? Pour salt in the wound. What a b@st@rd I am.

You know what's cool (besides the obvious), just look at how they fall right into pose with the body turn and the bent leg. How do you get the gig where you spend hours going over that stuff? Of course it's probably only fun for the first 10 years or so.....
Although that dude in the middle needs some work.

I can relate !! Those long days and intense hours of shooting company execs who don't care anything about anyone except themselves, and trying to get the right people together before they are too drunk to get their photo taken.
I've spent many hours hanging around the complimentary buffet and bar area waiting for just the right moment. Sometimes you have to use your model directing talents to get people in the right positions, and sometimes they just naturally do the right thing.
Not to hijack your thread, but from one Tom to another, I can relate.

One more thing about events. Keep your sales hat on.
They had an executive that was to be on the cover of their corporate magazine--all of them hated the headshot they had done of him. After looking at it, I could see why (bad pose, flat light, etc). I told them I had the gear with me to do another, and after a quick trip to the car for a shoot through umbrella and reflector, came up with this for them.
Cha-ching--extra money for little additional effort, plus, now I'm a hero, since they loved the new one compared to what they had before! Also, this is much more appropriate for a magazine cover than the shot they had (it was all head--made his noggin look the size of a pumpkin)
Always be looking for an opportunity at every turn!
