I have recently been asked to come take some pictures at a show of a band. I do not know how photographers that do this regularly charge. Most of the musicians I would be shooting don't make a lot of $ so it will for sure be a budget shoot.

shot the show then sell them the photo's they like at a good price.
I make them pay my way in and then a $40 cover charge for the photos.
But it depends on the band for me sometimes you can tell there $ flow if there a big band and signed they could get the signer to pay for them!!

Labels pay about $1500 a day for shoots. So a small independent is going to expect to pay much less. It really varies from band to band and what they need them for. I have a base price for local/non-local shoots, but almost NEVER use that price. It is just ballpark depending on other factors.

If it isn't something you do often, consider what other work MIGHT come out of it. If you have a niche market where you have a really good reputation, you can charge a little less knowing that the market is yours sometimes.

If you are thinking of getting into that sort of work, you might just try to cover your time and effort, and look at it as a way to market yourself to that particular genre.

That is how I got started. Just my two cents. I am sure others did it differently.
