USPS smashed my order... - 03-30-2007, 06:05 PM

Hi,

Just received my order and looks like one of the people from USPS sat on it while another tried to pick it up! To make matters worse, they left it on the weather side of the porch, and it's pouring!

Thankfully, due to the careful packing by MPIX (the best I've seen!), the only real damage was a crease on a 20x30 print. I think it may be ok, but will have to check with the client.

Ah! Hate it when this happens..

Oh my gosh, can you file a complaint with USPS? well, USPShuh, i dont think USPS will do anythign about it. I have had quite a few bad baddddd experiences with USPS. There was one time, they almost lost my very important documents--passport, social security card, etc. It was a horrible experience.
Sorry, I vent a little bit, haha.
I am sorry to hear that there's some damages on the print, hope your client wont be making a big deal out of it.

Actually, I would go in to your post office and show it to the station manager.

This is one of the reasons I try and get folks who come to my business to ship their items thru UPS or Fed Ex.

I have had a lot of people come back all mad because they shipped their items thru the post office at my business and the items were either lost or damaged and they act like it was one of my employees fault. My employees do not have control over the post office or their people.

I am glad my lab uses UPS for my photos and they are shipped to me free.

MPIX has been absolutely fabulous with the damage caused by the PO. Call them. Odds are they will send along another free of charge.

Doesn't MPIX offer really cheap fedex shipping? I definitely trust FedEx more than USPS or even UPS to get things to me safely.

if it's damaged in shipping the lab will (If they are good) make it right.

Thanks for everyones feedback.

I spoke with MPIX and sounds like they will replace the print. They do have FedEx shipping, however this is the first problem I've had with USPS, having ordered about 10-15 large prints like this before, I guess someone just had to site down...

I've never had a large print shoved into a mail box either! It so looks like they tried to with yours! MPIX has been good. Even if the corner has a little dent, they replace and reship promptly. UPS has been the crusher of all things fragile here...

If it isn't insured, the USPS won't even talk to you about it.

Not only they do not really care about your package, they are raising rates.

One thing to remember with your shipping is, regardless of whether it is USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL, they will fight with the shipper for EVERY claim. Especially UPS. They have certain grades of boxes that the damaged box must be or they will not reimburse. I used to work for a company that would have the UPS rep come out and approve our boxes before we would ship in them. That way, when they were damaged in shipment, UPS couldn't say that we were using cheap boxes or that it wasn't packaged right. It's one of those small writing spots in the contract between the shipper and the carrier I think. When we had damage, we would always go ahead and send out another of the product to the client, but then it would take us literally weeks to get the credit because you know the carrier doesn't think they damage anything!!

Well, all I can say is that I've never had packages damaged by USPS (and I order a lot from MPIX and some big size prints). I'm glad Mpix is reshipping - they are great to deal with. I'm just the opposite - I do ship USPS Priority whenever I can and often won't deal with a business that won't ship that way to me.

As for the rate case, did you know that for every 1 cent that gas goes up, it adds $8 million dollars to their operating budget? But I digress.....

Anyway, glad to know the damage will be repaired.

I've never known the USPS to make any effort, if the parcel isn't insured.
