models and agency's - 03-30-2007, 09:48 PM

I have to do a shoot very soon that is going to require hiring models from an agency. In order to keep the budget down we were looking for models to use on a time for print basis and told this to the agency. The agency was asking "What will our compensation be?", any ideas on how this should play out?

its a small agency that usually works with models that are just starting out.

TFP and AGENCY do not equate-once the model is with an agency you may be able to get the model to forgoe their fee but the agency sure won't that is the reason that you got what could be considered a snide remark, nothing shady about it. The person with the agency probably thought you were nuts wanting to TFP with one of their clients. If you could get the model to forgo their fee the agency would still get their % of what a normal fee would be.

Try something like Model Mayhem or one of the other online sites that starting and sometimes established models use many there will TFP.

thanks for the input folks. The agency is one that I had previously met at another photographers party, and I had shot some of there people for a magazine when they were hired to do a fashion show. I do believe them to be a reputable firm. Its just that since I have not hired models before I am really not certain of the fee structures.
