I was asked last night to type up a proposal for someone to fly me to California to take her daughters wedding pictures. She is willing to fly me, pay for my hotel, and pay for me to shoot the wedding. I will try not to bring my big guns LOL anyhow not sure what to do about this one! Evidently the number to beat is $6300.

Sometimes you can offer the same price, and if they like you, they will hire you over someone else. I was talking to a bride that booked a wedding for 08. She has shocked I wasn't shoving my stuff down her throat like all the other photogs she talked to. I told her to make sure she hired someone she likes - as well as for their work - even if its not me. The photog will be around all day. And I actually told her, if me and her didn't get along all that great, she should totally go with someone else. Its her wedding. And its important.

That seems to floor people. But honestly, working with people I don't see eye to eye with is incredibly difficult. So its better for both of us. Since I like her and she wants my style, it worked out well.

I guess the point is - you have a lot to offer, not just your price and your work, but you! I hope it works out well for you!!!

Nicely stated Holly! Actually this lady knows me and my family well! its so funny, I only do this part time and each year I put some of my work at our County fair and she was telling me that she always looks for my work. I just thought wow peolpe actually look for my work! She likes me and my work and I am thrilled for yet another oppurtunity. I did quote her and now I am waiting on a response!
