Talking Studio Room Choices - 04-07-2007, 09:52 AM

Okay we are looking at a house and it has two rooms both about the same size (25X12).

One room has a few windows and lets in some low to medium ambient light. To get to the other rooms in the lower level you would have to walk through this room. There is a door at the bottom of the stairs so I could keep the Doberman and cats out of the basement if need. Actually I would probably put in a small cat door so the cats could access the basement.

The other has no windows and is off to the side so once we installed double doors of some type no one would need to be in there but me and clients. No cat door in this one and dog limited to when I was in there

Which room would you choose for your studio?

Also is there enough room in both for the studio and a small office space?

Or go with house 3 which has no studio area (unless you knocked out a wall between two bedrooms and made it a 3 bedroom house instead of 4) but has a marsh in the back area behind the house and a huge deck with a gazebo off of it which is heated and air conditioned with a whirlpool?

Sounds like you are having fun house hunting. For the style we shoot, the narrow room would be a little too small. Our studio shooting room is 27x27 and it still seems small to me. Anyway, I've heard if you shoot primarily children, you can get away with smaller spaces and tighter ceilings. Can't wait to see what you do. And that whirlpool sound fine!

Thanks HotHolly. it's been a year since we started looking but it seems we are down to the 3. We go back on Monday to review them. I'll let you know what we decide. I don't do much studio shooting, in fact only did it once so far for people and working on a product one now.

not having traffic running through the studio would be a necessity for me.
A hot tub might change my mind.
I wish I could purchase a house on the basis of the studio possibilities.
