I have a question?????? When you print your prints. Say even sell your photos on CD or give them rights to your photos - do you put your "Nicole Herford Photography" Logo on ALL prints even on CD?? and if so how can I do it WITHOUT doing each one individually?? I have photoshop CS2 but I am only 25% familiar with it. Learning as I go! Anyhow just wondering!

Yes, I do. However, my logo does not say, "Nicole Herford Photography". That would be wrong.

There are supposed to be ways to batch this action in PS but I haven't tried to figure it out yet. I just do each one.

I do on all web stuff, but not on prints. I'm sure there is an easier way, but what I've done is created a file for each standard size image with the elements I want on the image. With mine it's a border, PROOF written in both black and white across the whole image, and my website address. I have an action that opens all the 'template files' for ease of opening a ton of files, but if I know I only need 1 or 2 I'll do it the old fashioned way. Then for each size I have another action uses apply image to to put the template over the image then it saves & closes the file. It's the most hands off way I found. I used to use a brush, but I got frustrated having to touch every image. I want to click and wait.

ETA: I just re-read that and if it doesn't make sense to people that aren't in my head let me know. :)

I am glad you got some help! I don't know a whole lot about professional photography! But from what I have learned here and through some other photographers I know, put you name on everything! Brand it! Good luck, just my 2 cents!

Check out Link and look for the Movie in number 6 Actions & Batch Processing. Watch the one entitiled Digital Watermark Branding. I think that may fill your need.

Hey Nicole--
If you are giving your clients a CD of high resolution photos to make their own prints I wouldn't put your logo/business name on each photo. It screams of 80's/90's photographers who put little foil branding on their photos.

Web images, yes.
e-Proofs, yes.
Prints, no.

Of course this is just my opinion. I'm not relying on the physical prints to advertise for me. If my work and personality impressed the client he/she won't hesitate to tell people who did the photography for them.

I do have my business name on the BACK of my prints, but unless the prints are hand-signed I do think printing a logo on the actual print cheapens things.

Here is one way. I am sure that there are many.

1. Open an uncropped image, vertical or horizontal.
2. Select all.
3. Create new file. Fill with Transparent.
4. Select your text tool.
5. Type your name in white.
6. Size and place the text where you want your signiture to go on all of your images.
7. Save this file. Make sure to label it so you do not ever delete it as it will become a script asset in a minute, and if you delete it, then your script will no longer work.
8. Close all your images.
9. Did you open an uncropped vertical or horizontal image before? Open the same now.
10. Got to your actions palette. Create a new action. Title it Studio Sig Vert or Hrz.
11. Open the file you just saved and select the text layer. Copy that layer. Close the image.
12. Now click on the image you opened to activate it. Paste the text layer.
13. Stop the recording of the action.

Now we will test your new action. Close all the files you just opened without saving them.

1. Open a horizontal or vertical image, which ever you were using the first time.
2. Click on the action you just made in your actions palette. Click the play button to execute the action. The computer should open the script asset we created, copy the text layer, close that image, and then paste the text onto the desired image.

You will need to make two scripts in total. One for vertical and one for horizontal images. It will only work on uncropped images.

If you have the script working up to this point, then you can create a batch. PM me when you get to this point and we will talk about running the script in a batch.

Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you.
