MPix's new books - 04-19-2007, 07:41 PM

I just got an email that MPix now carries press books. They come in hard or soft cover and can be printed on 3 different papers. I was offering Blurb books as a low-end album but I may be checking these out and start offering them. MPix has always done a good job of printing for me and it seems like their books may be a little higher quality.

Just found out about one drawback. The hardcover books do NOT have any print or dust jacket on the cover. The cover is just black or blue. That's a bit of a let down.

I'm pretty excited to see the quality. I can't image Mpix putting out something as bad as the blurb books.

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

Im sure the quality is great, that press software is a pain in the back side though.

You've already tried the software? What did you not like about it? The rep I talked to said that they were working on getting dustjackets to go on the hard cover books.

I got that email too and downloaded the software. I haven't tried it out yet, though. I used their business card software and loved it.

Oh I assumed it was the same press software as the business cards. I thought that was a little clunky to work with.

Thats what I get for assuming right?

I had issues with the software. It was a HUMONGOUS download (I would have to re-d/l it since I formatted) and when I tried to upload my calendar (several times), it would never go through. It was too big. I made each image to be what I thought was just big enough for good quality, and it would never upload. It was very frustrating.
