Freelance Rates to University... - 04-30-2007, 09:13 AM

I've been approached by the University where I'm an IR Staffer about doing some freelance work for them. The delivered product would be minimum processed tiffs on CD. They've ask for me to give them a price.

What sort of rates does work like this go for?

What do I need to think about in terms of releases to them, etc...

Anybody done this kind of work?

I know I'm going to talk to HR to make sure I'm in on the square with University policies and procedures...

I think before anyone can begin to help price this, more information is needed. Is this event photography for documentation, editorial, advertising, etc etc? What usage do they want the images licensed for? So many factors come into play that pricing could vary from hundreds of dollars to thousands.

Good Luck

From what I've learned, they want image for school website and promotional literature. I'm thinking about licensing issues now.

How many promotional pieces are they planning on printing? Will it be cover, full page, half, quarter? Will the website usage be on the mainpage, or sub?

For what's I've learned this will be we need pictures of X after hours or weekends. They may or may not use them. X could be anything from gaggles of new freshmen moving into the dorms to a conference or lecture....
