stock photo business - 04-30-2007, 02:48 PM

Is anyone involved in stock photography and using Corbis or Getty or one of the other agencies?

How do you like it? Is it worthwhile financially?

I know there are some changes going on with stock photos, do you still feel it is a profitable segment in the photography business or is it something to stay away from now?

Is it better to use an agency or just do your own searchable galleries and advertise?

I know there are a lot of questions, I am just trying to determine if stock photography would be a worthwhile venture and get advice on how to get started.

I did not find Corbis website to be very user friendly from the standpoint of a photographer trying to get information about submitting photos and the requirements.

Thanks,
Greg

Professional photographer and author, Bryan Peterson, shoots a lot for stock photo companies. He might be able to give you some insight on what it's like nowadays for this type of photography. His public email is bryanfpeterson@mac.com, and he does answer.
