Church & Small Schools Directories

Do any of you do church and small school directories?
I know that companies like lifetouch and a few others out there do.
I am looking for the company that does the printing of the books/directories.
I want to take the pictures/names/information and send it out for printing?
I was online and found an online service that does it, the bad news was, it said you did not need to hire a photographer
I have a year or so to make this business go. If not this is a very expenive hobby.

based on the books that I have seen and the company that did our Church last year, you could probably design the book yourself and send it to kinko's for printing. the quality should be about the same

I attend a church with approx. 500 Families. I did our directory with the church member data base and page maker. I sent them to a local print house here in Amarillo....Im sure there are easier ways, thats what was available to me at the time.

I know the guys at www.qballempire.com have done some work like this in the past. He is a graphic artist and I can vouch for his work. He is very talanted. Good Luck!

I worked for a church directory company for a year or so then a few years later I did three church directories on my own. One did well one just about broke even and the third wiped out all the profit from the first two.

Questions to ask:
1. How long has it been since your church did a directory? Less than 3 or 4 years is not good.
2. What are the demographics of your congregation? The more families with children the better the sales. Lots of single moms or older couples with no kids at home, run away.
