Rent-a-Wedding-Dress??? - 06-13-2007, 12:32 AM

My DFW client will be looking for the next few weeks for a tux and wedding dress to rent/borrow for a portrait sitting. The tux is easy, but the dress...Any ideas?

I know, sounds crazy, but they are married but without the formal setting. They had a reception after the honeymoon, so that is covered, but they would like some studio or floral photography as husband and wife. And they are stretching their monthly budget to do this.

Thoughts?

I don't know about renting a dress, but she could buy a used or unused dress from someone second-hand and then sell it afterwards. This of course is if she has the money to do this with.

Whatever you’re looking for is looking for you, too. The catch, of course, is recognizing it when it pops up in front of you.

The sites colors were as gaudy as was their approach.

I PM'ed my client and hopefully this and other posts to come will help her on her hunt.

Check with Carolyn at Bridal Botique in Lewisville. I think she used to have a rental dept.

Also check Goodwill's; they sometimes have some impressive dresses for almost nothing.

Great idea. I remember seeing one in a thrift shop last fall while I was buying unworn $60 golf shirts for $1.

there are several bridal stores in houston that will rent gowns. i'm not sure where bridge city is, so i can't help ya ;)

the $99 sales at david's generally are inclusive of only the really simple gowns. if she's wanting something more traditional/involved, she won't be able to find one for 99 bucks there.

i found a gorgeous gown on ebay once.

tell her to get on theknot.com if she's computer-friendly... there are always people willing to sell/let someone borrow their gown.
