Hi Yall,
So, I kind of fell into shooting a large corporate law firm's employee softball game and I was wondering how much I should charge for my time (The Event will last 4-5 hours) and how much I should charge for prints/digital workup that they need. They were not too clear on exactly what they wanted, left it up to me and I told them I would get back to them with pricing.
The softball games will be held at Minute Maid Park and will consist of 3 short games (2 playoff then a Final), kids running around the bases, spectators, families, etc.
I assume they will want either a booklet produced documenting the event or a website made, something like that. What do you guys suggest and what do you suggest I should charge for all that?!
Thank you guys!!!

Rough estimate...
For five hours of coverage, post processing, bond paper contact sheets, CD, and delivery, I would estimate $1250. Thats based on up to 250 quality images. A substantial amount of more images, prints or this booklet you mention would be more.

Frank is pretty close on.
I would charge at least two days rate for shooting and PP, plus whatever you want for the media they choose. I might put them up on a web site with ability to order prints like EM. | | | |

While we're on this topic - how many hours of PP do ya'll estimate for each hour of actual shooting (or do you base it on # of useable images...and if so, what's that ratio?)
Thanks!

Thank you guys for the fast responses. That price seems reasonable enough to me.
Do you guys think I should bring another photog with me to cover this event? Or should one person with 2 cameras (short and long) be able to cover the event?
Also, can anyone with experience shooting in Minute Maid give me some pointers or tips on some cool angles or shots to get?
Thanks guys,

Also, is there some easy software for creating flash movies? I have both mac and PC, I thought there might be some built-in mac feature for movie making??
How do I do "presentation" or how do I give the product to them, you think? I was just assuming a fast Photoshop-made web gallery posted online or given via DVD or something?

Ross | I think that you may want to look into bring more than one photog. If you are expected to cover both the families and the game (which would be happening simultaneously) you would almost need a 2nd shooter. For this i cant imagine you would need someone with a TON of experience like you would need for weddings etc. It is not that of a specialized event. So i could not imagine it being that expensive to find a 2nd. Correct me if i am wrong about that, its just my 2 cents.

There is Photo Show pro and Photo Show Producer, I would invest in Producer version, google it and you will get there web site. Lets you output to DVD, CD, Flash, Windows Media and lets you lock the show several ways to prevent coping. Unless your and Adobe house, the last and the newest version of Adobe Encore is supposed to have a photo slide show option, I have not update, waiting to hear if Matrox will have drivers available for the CS3 version. LINK Here, this will be easier

Yeah, I agree with you. What do 2nd photogs normally get paid? I would do all the post-processing myself, so they would just need to shoot it.

Hmm, for something like this i would imagine you would be able to find someone for $100, possibly a touch more. It is only 5 hours, and it is not going to be to high of pressure situation and very hard to screw up. You could probably post an ad on this forum in the business section (i think) or check out something like craigslist. but be careful if you do the craigslist thing. It would be best if you could hire a fellow photog that you know. Better yet just pay me to drive down there
