TFP - Are Models Phishing? - 06-23-2005, 09:23 PM

Here is new twist: Are you being solicited by models for TFP and having bad experiences?

I have had a couple of situations where a model has contacted me through either OneTalentSource or MuseCube and asked for a TFP shoot. After establishing contact and scheduling a location/time, they have either cancelled at the last minute or have been complete no-shows. I mentioned this to a local photography club and identified these individuals only to find out that some of the Club's photographers were also contacted and then scheduled by the same models with the same results.

Is there a known "Black List" of models that frequently do this? Or have you had any experiences like such?

ok, so it wasn't just me. I had someone contact me for a shoot this weekend and after scheduling a date, time and place, I have yet to hear anymore from her...

Maybe we should start a blacklist (or at least a grey one)

Hmmmm.... I must be lucky. So far only one model has done a cancel/reschedule with me. But she had legitmate reasons and has rescheduled for early july. Other than that, I'm batting 1000. YMMV. I use OMP, OTS, and GG, but most of mine have come from OMP.

I don't really support a 'black list', but sharing information in private email or messages is fair game as far as I'm concerned. Public disclosure isn't right in my opinion, and could possibly land you in court if you're not careful.

I would guess that it's not so much phishing (what woudl they be phishing for?) as the simple fact that some people are less dependable/mature/considerate than others.

Time For Prints

Or more likely now TFCD. Models trade their time with the photographer for prints or a CD with finished images. I offer 8 to 16 prints fully touched up in both 300dpi tiff and 72dpi jpeg. If a model wants physical prints, I offer them at my cost (just over $2 for a 8x10 or 8x12). Finished work back to them about a week after they choose their fav's from the proofs uploaded to my website within one week after the shoot.

More than you wanted to know, huh :D
