Hi all,
Got an email from a company here in San Antonio that does event planning, organizing, etc. They found some photos on the web that I took at a recent Placido Domingo concert here in San Antonio and they want to buy couple of the digital images and prints (they don't specify size for either so I'm still in the dark, I'm sending an email with request for more info and should get an answer tomorrow).
I'm just a beginner in this so I have no prices and quite frankly haven't really given it a thought to sell yet - I have ways to go to learn the ropes<g> However, I work for myself, so when opportunity knocks I open the door:)
Anyone have guidelines to prices for prints (I'd guess 8x10 to start with, maybe bigger - these are 8MP, but I've printed in upto 11x17 with good results - Epson 2200) and digital that you could share, so that I can have some clue when they come back with what sizes they want?
Thanks in advance:)

Well, before you could give an accurate price quote you would have to know what they are going to be using the image for. Are they going to be using it in a brochure that has a 10K print run? 50K? Billboard? TV? Also how long are they going to want to use the image for? Rights for a year, or unlimited usage? Do they want the copyright? These are the majority of things that you would have to know before you could tell them anything accurately.

Hi guys,
Got this response back:
"We would really love some
digital copies of the photos. One of which we would like to get printed for
an 18x24 poster to hang in our office. As of now, the only other thing I
could think we would use them for is a recap book (to store in our office to
show to clients) and POSSIBLY on our website. I'm not completely sure yet,
but the poster in our office is a definite go! What would you require from
us to get some digital copies to use in those ways?"
So it seem that they want to print and use this for their own marketing, which I think is great, but I have no idea how to price this<g>

Well, that "possibly" for on the website would either have to be a confirmed yes or no when you give them a quote. But if they just want the print, which it sounds like that right now, i would just offer to have it printed for them and mail it to them. Charge around $50 (give or take) for it. That way the image would not "accidentally" end up on a website or in a brochure.
Is the recap book only a one run thing, or are they putting it in offices around the country?
And when priceing the web usage, you would usually only send them a 400x600 pixel image (or what ever size they are going to use on thier site). And you have a set time period in which it can be used. EX: $125 per year, or $250 for unlimited etc...

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the info:) After some more emails it appears that they are basically interested in the digital license only, i.e. not prints in particular. I'm going to meet with them Friday and I'm going to sleep on this until tomorrow:)
