From Phil's DevianArt journal, some of you had asked about this recently:

So Portland was pretty awesome. Being sued isn't, but I met some awesome people and had some great shoots while I was there.

I traveled all the way from Texas to attend a court ordered meeting. I got to spend some nice time with a judge and a friendly moment with S.G. attorney Paul Loving, but much to my surprise and the surprise of the judge the owners of S.G. didn't even bother to come to the mediation meetings so the message came through pretty clearly that they have no intention of trying to settle and the meeting was fruitless. It seems we are head towards a lengthy and very expensive trial.

I saw a lot of old friends and made some new ones. Special thanks to Dennis for hooking me up with a great central place to stay while I was there, and to my awesome photographer friend that shall remain unnamed for very specific reasons for showing me around and helping me with some shoots.

The bad news is my case is almost certainly headed to trial now and I expect it to run over $35,000 based on the estimates I've gotten from people that know a lot more about this stuff than I do.

The good news is I'm probably selling everything I own and moving to Portland to make this easier to handle, it helps that I really like the city and everyone I met there. I got an offer on my house today if we can come to agreements on the terms I am going to sell.

We're about to have some massive electronic garage sales and eBay auctions - stay tuned.

I really wish some judges would have balls.
If the judge ORDERS mediation, and one party fails to show up, they should be smacked on the head with a gavel and a default judgment enteerd for the party that did show.
Also fine the tards for disobeying a judges order.

I agree.

The concept of mediation requires two parties (at least) - so why is it ok for the petitioner to skip out on it? Only their lawyer was there...If the respondant faield to appear (or only his layer appeared) Phillip would have instantly been up to his ass in alligators.

It ain't cheap to fly from HOU to PDX. This is just another example of how SG is just trying to bleed Phil. Makes me sick.
