Oblique pole photography? - 09-15-2007, 05:00 PM

Saw this in Dallas craigslist and couldn't find any references to "oblique pole" on any of the forums. Anyone ever heard of this as a viable business? Seems too good to be true if you can buy the business for $12,000 and turn around and gross $12,000 a month. Just wondering.

There is a huge demand for 40 foot oblique pole photography. You don't have to be a photographer, you can hire someone.

The oblique photo pole equipment is currently stored at my parent's ranch while I'm in Iraq. I'm selling everything: 40' motorized galvanized extension pole (13' collapsed), electric wench runs off 12V vehicle battery, wireless controlled camera mount and remote, supports and tie downs, SUV roof mounts and more. I am also including my marketing strategies that gave me all my clients. You only need a digital camera and vehicle.

I took oblique photos for realtors, builders, landscape, insurance, community events, parades, accident scenes, schools, funerals, companies, family reunions and more. After you get listed with Ad Agencies you'll either have to turn business away, or increase your prices - like I did.

My semi-full time monthly income was $12,000+ (I am selling the equipment plus my marketing notes for $12000) Training is learned through trial/error while creating your portfolio. I had the equipment mastered within the first two weeks - see my photos below.

If you like having fun with people... you can set up at fairs and festivals and draw an instant crowd that pays well!! I did this when I first started. You can make a lot of money in just one weekend!! I explain all of this in my marketing notes which I will give to the buyer only.

Serious Buyer should ask for a phone number. My dad will meet Buyer at the buyer's Bank or Bank of America to close the sale. Please forward this ad to someone! Thanks!

one of my co-workers did this several years ago with a 25 ft PVC "pole" and some remotes and servos and such. he spent well less than 12,000 on his set up. Maybe a few hundred bucks at the most.

I dont know if you could really make that much in 1 month unless flocks of people / business are wanting this type of photo. I don't think I would see this as a permanent money maker

I saw that ad as well...I think its all smoke and mirrors. He says he will give you his "marketing notes" with the purchase, but he pretty much gave it all out in the ad when he stated who he does this type of photography for. As far as making this kind of setup, he got robbed! I showed my friend the ad who is in the advertising business, and he told me he could built a better setup for under 2K. He was talking about using servos, a stabilizer, a enclosed ball type thing for the camera where only a part of the lens is sticking out. Wireless transmitter and AV with a monitor so you can see what you are shooting. He said the actual pole design would be the easiest part of this, just depends if you wanted a cable, chain or other type of system to raise it up and down.

I have a friend who does a lot of this type of landscape photography, but he just rents a platform that can be dragged on a trailer and gets up there and shoots it himself.
