Seriously though... just like how you use a stylist for makeup and hair, you use a stylist when shooting food. They usually do all the shopping, cooking/food prep, styling of the shot, etc. Tons of tricks up their sleeves... things you would NEVER think of in a million years to get food (or what you think is food) to look perfect. Removing the cheese from ravioli and re-stuffing with mashed potato... mixing glycerin with water to make the perfect water droplets on fruit... using elmers glue instead of milk in a cereal bowl... going through an entire bag of potato chips to find the ONE perfect chip...
And if you are good at it, you can make a lot of money! Good food stylists are hard to come by.
Holly, I don't know if it will help but there is a photographer here in Houston that is probably has the best team in town to shoot food. We've used him tons of times. Ralph Smith Photography. I don't know how you feel about this but you might want to look him up and give them a ring and see if they wouldn't mind referring a stylist or two. They've flown in stylists from Dallas and other places before... they know the good ones.
