I'm being hired to do some photos of some industrial machinery. The images are intended for web site use. Any thoughts on what I should charge for something like that?

Why am I always the first one to post to these threads and questions ?
I then have the priviledge of getting lambasted for my opinion, but hey that's not going to stop me.

For this sort of commercial photography I would charge my standard daily rate plus expenses (travel, etc. if outside of what I would normally encounter). I'm not going to state a specific rate because that is really up to you to decide what you will charge. Daily rates range from $500 to $2000 depending on how busy a photographer is, how hungry he is, and how much the market will bear. Don't underrate yourself. The temptation is to quote a low figure so you don't lose the account, but that is a mistake. I would recommend that you talk to the customer and just ask them what their budget is. If what the say is within your limits, go for it. If they want you to shoot all day for $1.20 tell them you are unable to do it for that price.
