Sometimes I'll be viewing a photogs portfolio and I'll see an image and they've shot is 'as if/and inserted' a familiar logo into the pic to look like it's an ad for that company.
Sometimes it looks really good, sometimes it's obvious...but it's always a turnoff. Unless it's an actual tear sheet I can't see any good from this. If your pic can't stand on it's own without the label...then rethink it.
And I actually made this mistake. When I was much younger I mocked up a ad with a company logo and put it on my website. A few years later that company called me for a possible job but were concerned about the pic. After I told them it was not a real ad, I never heard from them again. Coincedence? Maybe, maybe not.
No one will ever hire you because you thought the logo looked good in the pic...and they may just pass because they may see you as trying to be dishonest...even if you are not. Anyway, I've seen this alot lately and wanted to share my story.
