I have been asked by a lady to shoot her family portraits. I really have no idea what to charge her for this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I know her from shooting her daughters soccer team and that is why she contacted me about doing this.

thanks
Mike

It's hard for one photographer to suggest to another what they should charge for their work. When I started charging a couple of years ago I looked at the sites of several different photogs to get an idea of what they were charging and then based my prices accordingly. On the one hand, I don't want to undercut another photog with predatory pricing. On the other hand, I don't think my skill level could justify charging what someone like Scott Watters could command. I based my pricing upon what I think my work and current skill level is worth.

Don't undervalue your work or you'll wind up selling yourself short and/or giving your work away. There's value in what you do and you should be compensated for it.

I'm not sure if that helps, but that's my thought process behind the whole thing.

thanks Wes. I agree I am not at the skill level of Mr. Watters or Brad, but at the same time I don't want to give away my work. I tend to put a lot of work into portraits.

Charge a fair price for your time including post processing, sales time, retouching and order upload time, delivery time, etc.

A good starting place for prints is cost X5. A little more (X6 or X7) for smaller sizes and a little less for wall portraits (X4).
