Your Studio Size - 12-02-2007, 06:13 PM

What is the total size of your studio?
How any photo rooms do use for shooting?
What is the size of the rooms?
I am thinking, I know I should not do things like that, of opening a studio here in Plano, Allen area.
Per a few of you, I had my head checked, very little there to worry about.
Now this might be a loaded question - There is a lot in a name - the name of studio.
I have sent out 200 cards for over two months to the brides in my area. Not one call, the first month went great, three calls, I thought I would have three weddings, one or two girls got cold feet, I shoot the third girl this weekend.
Now back to my question, what is in a name?
The name I am using is Marvin Thomas Photography.
People that have seen my work likes it.
Any thoughts?

Wow, you asked a TON of questions. If you are thinking about getting a studio to attract more clients - do NOT do it. You'll end up upside down. You want the clients 1st and then the studio - and that is assuming you need it. If you are wanting to shoot weddings, you may not need a studio at all. Most weddings and bridals are shot on location. So, you just need a place to meet with brides. There are LOTS of options there.

The next thing you mentioned - the name. It does not grab my attention. Many photogs use their name as their studio name. It's usually kind of lack-luster (unless your Mom named you something super-fly). Rethink the name.

If you need a studio in the mean time, you can look at renting one in your area.

The other thing is your name is long and that may be part of it - generally I've been told something short and sweet and easy to remember.....

My PR/Marketing director has advised me that Tom Thompson Photography was not a good name, and we went to T3 Studios.
I don what my PR/Marketing director says, or else she won't sleep with me.
