Another Business Card C&C - 12-23-2007, 06:51 PM

I've spent the last couple of days designing a new business card for portraits. After incorporating input from family and close friends (thanks Wes), I am pretty happy with the card. I would love to see what everyone else has to say before I send it to the lab. BTW, the back of the card is blank. Is that a mistake? Thank you for taking the time to look.

Hey Debbi, I like the font and the black. Good job keeping that simple. I think maybe a different pic may be a good idea. I like this pic a lot, but you have to think, your card is going to be 1/3 this size. It might be hard for people to make out what the pic is at first glance.

Thank you, Heather. I was trying to keep it simple and clean. I chose the pic because it worked well as a smaller pic. I didn't want to do a full pic on the background - even if I lowered the opacity - because it seemed really cluttered. Would you suggest a full size pic on the card?

No, I like the pic on one side and the text on the other. I'm just afraid that in a smaller size, the pic you choose will get lost in the card.

Would this work better - with the same pic and a different crop?

I agree with replacing the photo ... zoom out and take another look. I went too far but you get the idea.

Did you do this off of the one I just posted, or from the original?

Edit - N/M - I see it is from the second posting. Are you saying I need to zoom in farther? BTW, thanks for your input!

I had a question related to your URL-- is there a reason that you don't simply redirect your bhotographix.com URL to the longer one you listed on your business card? It seems to me that it would be much easier to use that shorter URL...

Good question. I just purchased the domain tonight. At some point in the "near" future, I will actually set up the website and at that point, I will redo the business cards. This is all new to me and it was brought to my attention earlier today that I didn't have an email address listed. I intentionally left it off because I didn't want to use my yahoo address because everyone knows those are free. This is a "product in the making".

IMO, I would loose the photo. Nothing wrong with your photo, but I'm just not a big fan of photos on a business card. It needs some "style" too. I also agree with Bryan, why not just use your website? It's much shorter.

If I have some time (and I usually do) I may play around with your card if that's okay with you.

it was from the second one ... I just think the face will get washed out on a card ... or hard to tell what it is ... of course I got bad eyes

I might have to agree with you on this one. She is very fair. I never had bad eyes before but I have just hit the 40+ eyes (and it sucks!)
