Are you in the same class all week long?

Yup Tom, the same class all week.

I won't be attending, I can never find the free time when they hold this. I am always booked and it is one of the busiest times of my year.

I'm not so sure I'd want to be in the same class all week long. Plus, that's a long time to be out of town and leave a 3 year old with mom by herself.

Tom,

The Classes are pretty intensive and you learn alot. That is why you have to choose the class that you really think would benefit you the most, as you will be committing a weeks time to that subject.

If you didn't register already, chances are the best classes are already full and you won't get your first choice at this point anyway.

To me, Texas school doesn't come at the right time of the year and I can never get the class I am willing to invest the money and time away from the studio.

I haven't looked. I am not attending. But word to the wise, you better be up tonight at midnight to register or you will likely NOT get your first choice class.

So I hear. I'm a little disenchanted to discover you're in the same class all week. I'm sure it's valuable, but to be away from home for a week, I'd prefer a little variety.

There is a reason it is called the Texas School of PROFESSIONAL Photography. The classes are designed to give you very intensive professional training in one field taught by one of the world's best photographers in that field. And there is a reason that almost 1,000 students will spend a week there. They are ready to take their business to a higher level.

I have been doing photography for a living since the early 70's and I still make time to attend this school almost every year. I have learned a tremendous amount of photographic and business knowledge from such greats as the late Dean Collins, Don Blair, Monte Zucker, and Rocky Gunn. And from current greats such as Dave Newman, Doug Box, Don McGregor, Frank Cricchio, and others.

If you have ever attended a half day or one day class and left with more questions than answers, then maybe this school is for you.

If you have ever attended a program with 100 other people and wished for a little more one on one or more in depth discussion of the subject, then this school may be for you.

If you have ever attended a great workshop and wished there had been time for hands on shooting, then maybe this school is for you.

If you have ever attended a great PhotoShop demonstration, but wished that you had been able to practice on your own computer as the instructor demonstrated, then maybe this school is for you.

I will be assisting Doug Box this year and hope to see some of you in our class.

Thanks Tom, I'm kinda in your camp. If I was able to come home each night it would be a no-brainer.

Big question.. Is it worth it for me? I think that I take a pretty good photo, I'm learning alot everyday, and have taken a couple classes. I still tend to shoot too many shots that are "ho-hum". But I'm looking to get more into photography professionally. would it be better for me to learn as I can and plan on attending next year? Are there other schools in Dallas that might fit me better? I come from the IT field & have attended too many 3-4 day boot camps. Is that what this is? Do I need to know more going in to truely benefit from this course?

I got accepted to work it as an assistant/intern this year. I have been assigned to Al Auldeman for the week. Having never gone before, I am really looking forward to it. I am told that besides learning much, the school is a great way to network with other photographers.
