I was wondering how those of you who generate a portion of your income from stock photography sales price for exclusive use? Do you use a multiple of sale? Is that multiple affected by industry exclusivity vs. total exclusivity? By length of use? Do you have a minimum price for exclusive use?
I have a couple of sales pending over the next two weeks, and exclusive use might be requested in both cases. Generally, I won't sell exclusive rights for an image for less than 200% of the non-exclusive price, sometimes 300% if it is one of my better images, but I'm not sure if that's the preferred way of doing it. I also have a minimum that I would accept based on the popularity of the photo.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience in this area. I'm still trying to come up with a firm way of pricing out my stock photos. Thanks! |
