LOL - Parts of this thread are pretty funny to me.

The OP point is definitely valid. What I did was get out of the business part of wedding photography. In other words, I shoot pretty much exclusively as a second shooter 30ish Sat a year. I do not deal with booking, billing, albums, bridals, engagements, advertising costs, sales tax, moms, etc for wedding clients.. I shoot and turn over the images. Make decent money for my time.

Since I have a full-time corporate gig, this works best for me and gives me time to spend with my family and shoot things that actually make me happy rather than concerning myself with where the next bride will come from and getting the product out the door. It certainly makes shooting less stressful, more enjoyable, but significantly less profitable...But for me, it works.

Especially if you aren't very good. No one likes to hear a mediocre trumpet blast! But then again, if there is no one else available to blow taps at a funeral, a bad trumpet is better than no trumpet at all!
