MPix Vs. Millers - 03-04-2008, 05:46 PM

I currently use WHCC to develop my images, but recently thought I'd check out Millers. I understand that Millers is the parent company for MPix (who've I've used on a number of occasions) but was curious about the differences between what the two services offer.

with Millers, they have a nice upload/ordering software that you use to order the pictures. not some web based thing. They also do things like studio imprinting, offer more products (like for shooting a schools yearbook portraits etc...), give you the option to have the photos drop-shipped to clients, and if you shoot an event, they can package them by the order so you dont have to sort though images and package them yourself. That is just a few things i can think of off the top of my head, i know there is more...

I'd heard that they were tossing around the idea of dropping the "volume requirement"...can anyone confirm this?!? I'd love to give the Miller's side of things a try, but I'm not sure I can reach those print requirements yet.

I have used Miller's for years. First I used them from about 1987 to 1996, at which time I had to quit photography due to an eye disease. When I got my sight back about 4 years ago, I called Miller's to see if I could be their customer again while I was just starting out. I don't know whether they made an exception due to our previous history, or whether it is a policy overall, but they have been very good to accept my orders without a quota. At first, they did charge me for shipping till I brought it up a bit, but it is still not at a very high level since I also have my "day-job".
