Help with questions

I have different venues that occasionally will ask for a photo. Now as a photographer that's like asking a car dealer for a car. There are about a million questions that need to be asked....so do you have a list? give me some questions youi ask...i.e. "Renae we need a photo to go on the front page of our website"...

I would start with, "Tell me a little bit about what you have in mind. Are you wanting exterior images, interior images, or a combination of both? When do you need these images? Do you have a budget for this? What other uses will these images be used for?"

Does that get you started? Do you need more information? Where should I send the invoice?

Don's questions are right on.

I would definitely ask them what their budget is for this project. This can weed out the "I don't want to pay" people right away. If they say $2500 or $25 then you can make a proposal that fits their budget

For $25.00 I will shoot an exterior shot as I drive by on my way to the post office.

Most of the time it is for something at the church...so you know what that budget is without asking!!

Here's what I found.."I want some pictures of people laughing"...so here are some questions I have come up with. If found some of them after looking on logo webstites..

1. What format will the photo need to be in
2. How many people do you want in each photo.
3. Are you trying to get the person looking at the photograph to do something? (serve, committ, look for more information, etc.
4. Is there an emotion you are trying to portray
5. Who are you trying to target?
6. Any colors you want or don't want in the image
7. Any specific type of person/persons you want in the photo (age, gender, race etc.)
8. Do you want any sort of props in the photo?
9. How much of a body do you want in the photos (head, entire person, torso, etc.)


These are some of the kinds of questions I am trying to make a list of...so instead of getting the "I need a picture" comment and then get the reply "I don't like one" ....I want some specific ideas...and I have learned, most of them know exactly what they want...they just can't communicate that to me.

I might include. What are you willing to offer these people to be models in this photo ? You will need releases from everyone who is recognizable.
