Assistants (?)

Back when I first started, I actually found someone with the opposite of my personality usually worked the best.

Found that clients differ so dramatically that some of the more serious types would click with my former partner...and others would click with the sarcastic me. It was nice to have someone available that worked well with either extreme.. LOL

These days....it seems like most clients are similar and fairly fun loving...

Now that you ask I have found that heavier assistants have trouble keeping up with me. Especially heavy girls. They start running out of energy in the middle of the afternoon and want to go sit down.

I would use any race, but have only had caucasians apply up until this point. No I take that back, I had a black fella work for me for almost a year about twenty years ago. I kept telling him he wasn't ready, but he left me and started his own studio. It lasted about six months. I would have hired him back, but he didn't come around or ask.

For portrait shoots, I get my nephew to assist. I would feel bad having a girl carrying my gear while I talk to the clients.
He's pretty quite and calm, but we joke around and I give him a lot of crap and blame everything that goes wrong on him.

Hey Angel, Como esta' frijole? (How you bean?) It's good to hear from you. I am doing great. Just about back to normal with a few load limits. The only real downer is that I am on blood thinners until summer so no alcohol. Been on the wagon since 01/08/08, but whose counting.

I'd love to have you work for me, but I don't think you would move to Denton for what I pay my assistants and it is only for the summer.

I'm lucky enough to have a wife that enjoys coming to shoots with me. She doesn't come to every shoot because we have a 3yr old (almost 4 ) daughter to tend to. She ALWAYS comes with me when shooting a female senior. I haven't reached the point of needing an assistant other than that.
