Miller's Lab - 04-17-2008, 08:44 AM

I am considering switching labs and have some questions for those that use Miller's. For the Final Prints, does anyone use their color correction service (Ambassador) ?? Have you done any side-by-side comparisions with Thrift (non color corrected) vs. Ambassador?

I am not totally unhappy with my current lab (Pounds), but have seen quite a bit of favorable praise for Millers here.

For those that use Remote Studio - how do you like it? I have tried to upload a few test images to them using this, but am having some connectivity issues. I am working with their technical folks, and not too concerned, but just curious how other people feel?

Thanks.

I will follow this for I am thinking of choosing my first lab and have been advised by a retired pro to use Miller's as well.

I always use their color correction and never had a complaint about it.

Brad - so you just upload straight out of your camera and don't do any correction??

Assuming you have a calibrated monitor...check out WHCC and ProDPI. Both have free 8x10 samples to check you monitor against their output. I have always used WHCC but just switched to ProDPI because the prints look so much better.

Oh, heavens no. I do retouching that includes a white balance for screen.. but color correction for screen vs. color correction for their printer profile is two totally different things. I let them handle the color correction for their printer if needed and never had a complaint.

+1 ...always use color correction

I use both Millers and Mpix depending on the job and order.

I'm with Brad on this one. I always tweak my photos to where they should be on my monitor, then i send it off to them and let them color correct it to their printers profiles. I have yet have an image come back bad.

Greg, either way you can't go wrong. I started using Millers in 1975! Back when they were a tiny hometown lab.

Best lab out there in my humble opinion. We get calls periodically from labs wanting us to switch saying that they have better customer service, blah blah blah.

My definition of customer service is never having to talk to customer service.
