Outdoor studio questions - 04-17-2008, 10:48 AM

Abel if this isnt in the right catagory, feel free to move it...

I have been giving an awesome opportunity I am going to be opening a teeny tiny little studio in Cypress I will be doing some studio work but the property its on will be more so my studio it is a blank slate and I need to fill it with landscaping.

Is there is anyone here that has an outdoor studio that would be willing to share you awesome knowledge and wisdom on what to plant and how?

I have an ideas of what I want to do, but dreaming and doing are two diffrent things.....

Thanks tons!!

Kim

I can't offer any advice, but I'd like to say Congrats! When you're ready to open I'd like to stop by and see what you've set up.

Well, I can only tell you what I'd want in an outdoor studio ...

• A gazebo
• A barn or rustic structure (also good for storage of props and equipment)
• Water feature, preferably a small pond
• Rowboat for the small pond
• Big rocks at varying sizes and levels for group and individual shots
• Logs
• Blooming field of wildflowers (for spring)
• Big trees for nice, even shade
• Rustic fences of differing styles
• Movable backdrops such as a graffiti wall
• Tire swing/traditional swing
• Nice, classic-looking playground for kids
• Landscaped patio with furniture

For plants I'd want a solid base of evergreen, and with room for annuals so you can keep blooms rotated according to the seasons. I'd also have different areas of landscaping, such as maybe a cactus garden or Japanese-style garden area.

Gosh, the possibilities are nearly endless depending on your budget and space. I probably didn't help much, but sure would be interested in seeing what you come up with.

Thanks guys!!

Like I said it is very very very very small....a lady I met opend up a store front for her shop and she had a wrap around porch off to the side and offered it to me for very cheap....the room, yeah one room is only 20 x 19 but its something I can play with and it has great future possibilities....I may use it to shoot studio, dont know yet what I will do with it.....I may use if for consulting and ordering sessions, if I dont like the studio lighting, but the outside alone is worth it, I drive at least 5 times a week to Mercer and that drive is getting old fast...so I wanna make my own little version of mercer with only a 7 minute drive.

Thanks again for advice and support, it was a terrifing leap for me.
