Packaging Photographs & Prints - 04-30-2008, 06:12 PM

Those of you that have occasion to package prints for bulk delivery apart from the lab, do you have a good source of photography packaging?

Envelopes, sleeves, cardboard packages, printed containers, etc.

...curious if any of you package prints regularly.

Normally I do allow the lab to handle shipping but am comtemplating some new/old approaches to doing business.

Thanks for any tips.

I package all my prints. Depending upon the prints, I enclose each print in a TAP folder, then put the folders in a black, silver foiled slip sack. As all my prints larger than 8x10" are mounted, they go in individual flat black boxes that protect the prints.

I get all of my packaging products from Kendall Hartcraft. You will have to set up an account with them before they will allow you to see pricing. As is with most things of this nature, the more you buy the better the individual price. I usually get my folders 1K at a time, and they do the imprinting for free. Sacks I usually get 2-3K at a time in a couple of sizes.

I use Black Linen and Slate Grey depending on the type of print.

Thanks Coby.

I knew someone had to know a good source.

Hopefully it will save the trial and error method of sorting through companies.

Everytime I look at the Kendall Hartcraft website I can never find boxes or sacks - all I ever see is framing material and albums. Am I really that daft?

I use tap-usa.com, or one of their distributors, but always trying to find something better
