I'm considering this building for a studio. There are no supporting walls, so any type of remodel is possible. The previous owner ran a landscaping business and also lived there. I think the "house" part could be re-purposed, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it. I realize that it would take a great deal of work to make it into a nice studio space. Here is what the original ad says about the place Quote: |
Unique property...very nice home & 30x60 shop all under one roof in a 60x60 steel bldg. Home is double insulated, steam in mst shower, whirlpool tub, open living area, surround sound. Not a manufactured home. Shop is open at both ends for drive thur (14'doors). Ideal for business owner, or anyone needing a shop, rv prkg, et. Inclds 2 wells, and landscaped yard. Seller would consider owner carry.

Depending on location I'd get this in a heart beat. I assume it's in Abilene. Would people be able to get there without a big hassle ?

Thanks for the input. It's in Amarillo, and in an easily accessible location. There are new neighborhoods popping up all around. It is a little ways out of the city limits, and there are no zoning laws for the area.
I'm not sure that my family and I could live there right now, I would have to add another bedroom and an office. But who knows...

i would do it in a blink. only problem is keeping that place cool. I would check into solar and see if that town offers rebates for putting in solar panels. Not only are you paying rent on your home but you get a business building at that same time.
Perfect set up. You buy the building and then lease it to your company. Get two write off.
My question is how much is that going for.

I should have included that in the beginning. The asking price is $175,000
Yeah, that was a concern for me...there is no heating/cooling system in the warehouse area.

If you don't need to live there... could always gut the master bedroom or living room and use them for an a/c'd studio.
add auto photographing to your services and bring them inside the warehouse area.
Lot's of good potential there.

It wouldnt cost that much to get ac in that open area. It's not cheap but it''s not to the point that you couldnt swing it. radiant barrier would go a long way and some of the new spray in stuff would be useful. but going solar would be a great way to cut your cost. Might take 10 years to show a gain from the solar but it's worth looking into.

If the interior home portion would meet your living needs then this would be ideal for a studio.

Depending on how much land is included it might be a good deal. For about the same price I bought a nice 3400 square foot home on two and a half acres in 1998 on a main road in Denton. If this only includes an acre or less I would consider it overpriced for the Amarillo area.
