Social Media Widgets - Do you use them?

I've been playing around with widgets / mashups / gadgets / etc... just to see how it works in building them.

I've got some ideas on how to use them for my particular area (places, not people)... but was thinking, they would be good in the portrait / seniors market where clients (especially seniors) were more likely to be using the social sites such as facebook and myspace.

I was first curious to know if anyone has been trying them out.

If so - is it working for you?

Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

Also - if nobody (or not many) is using them... I'd like to try making one using someone's images... just as a trial.

I'll setup one up for somebody for free just to see if it catches on and works... I just need a volunteer.

What you get out of it - maybe a new tool to use in marketing

You may have a good idea here. I'm just not too sure what a social networking wiget or mashup is.

In my day we called them doohickeys.

Oh ok..yeah I've seen these. Cool idea. You could maybe do one for seniors and let them put it on their myspace or something like that. Sounds like a winner!

Playing around with it for a few minutes...it posted to my wordpress blog easily. Just a simple cut and paste.

glad to hear that it works easily. I've posted some other ones to myspace and facebook and they seemed to go through pretty easily.

I'm also playing around with the google docs spreadsheet incorporation where someone can put in a name and email and the info gets stored in the spreadsheet.
