Anyone ship framed prints? - 05-20-2008, 03:04 PM

I have two gallery showings coming up soon and I need to ship framed prints. I went to the ups store and one of my prints shipped was 135.00. A artist friend of mine says he uses the post office for about half of that. Anyone else send anything like this? One of the gallery events is for charity, and I am not getting payed for it so I would like to keep the costs down if possible

I had to mail some prints to a client summering in Australia. They were for her summer home. DHL was insane. FedEx next. Then UPS. And bingo - USPS was the cheapest. I paid $75 for Priority Mail.

They usually kill you with packing charges because they are afraid the glass will break. They use extra bubble wrap and bigger boxes to cover themselves against breakage. Next time get them framed with plexiglass and tell them not to worry about the glass breaking.

Just out of curiousity, what size were the frames?
