Monitor Calibrated Properly - 06-12-2008, 07:39 PM

Trying to get my monitor calibrated. Anyone using a well calibrated monitor and pro lab please. Do I seem to have it right? -.17 brightness. The pink balloon reflected onto her face so I adjusted the tone up.

On my Spyder calibrated monitor, it looks slightly overexposed

Joyce, I have never calibrated my monitors and I don't stress over exact color correction. I try to get the color looking pretty good, but I usually do this as a batch process. When I upload my images I check the box that says for the lab to color correct. They color corrected my film images so why would I not let them color correct my digital images? I have been very pleased with this arrangement and my prints look just great.

It just so happens that I ran your prints through CSI and you came up as " Jimmy Hoffa ".. so where have you buried the real Jimmy Hoffa ???

Ok, maybe I am getting too particular.
Don, I set my high key up to with you help, thanks. I love it except keeping it clean and my boom sticking to the floor. Still need to mount my hair light on ceiling, just looking for the best way. Studio otherwise finished after all this time.
Only used a key and hair light, had to turn off fill because of reflected light. Should have used fill as second bg light to get more even background. Practice is easier with digital.
Thanks for all help,
Joyce

Not that what you do is wrong, but I have never felt the need for a hair light on high key.

You are right, especially with that blond hair. It probably helped to turn the side of her face pink. I was suprised how much light was reflected with all that white and having turned the fill light off. Some light might have reflected back off the fill umbrella.
