Just thought I would share something that happened this week. But first anyone who knows me knows I type slower than my mind works :) so when in chat or posting a quick note I tend to have spelling errors.

That said our studio was asked for a bid on some convention work here in San Antonio, my partner sent them a proposal and contract to consider and we got the job. No big deal really, except it turns out we were the high bidders on the job. The only reason they chose our studio was that there were no misspellings on the contract and it LOOKED professional so they figured they would get better results from us.

Never underestimate how important it is to look over everything before it goes out to a client or potential client. And if you're like me, it never hurts to have someone proof read it.

Canon gear all the way around, just toss in a bunch of other accessories and you have an addiction.

This of course is why I send my work out before sending :) I knew I should have paid attention in English class.

This is a funny thread, but seriously as a teacher I always use spell check. I'm a pretty good speller, but I mainly use it because I don't type as well. (...hope I typed this without a misspell...)

Todd, I get emails and letters with errors.
Another error that's very common is the usage of "there" and "their".
We are all so rushed at times...

Thanks, but I have come to terms with the way my mind works :) in overdrive all the time and I don't do well with checking.. Hence the reason I use someone outside of the business to check all of my stuff before I send it out to a client :)

Now if I could just get my post production stuff checked I might actually get somewhere :)

You're right about the quality of everything making a statement. Another forum I moderate has some folks who can't put three words in a row without some form of error. It makes it hard to read their work (less difficult for me as I'm bilingual, English and typo) and hard to take what they say seriously. Congratulations on your new contract.
