Not sure if anyone has seen this. I just downloaded the beta version of TinEye a few weeks ago. It's a great idea for sure! I know one of my images is being used on MySpace, but I'm allowing him to do it.

It's free and once you are approved (took me a few minutes) you can check it out. I also submitted my website to be crawled too.

This has the potential of being pretty useful to Photogs at tracking down unauthorized use of your images. The database seems a little thin right now.. but it's pretty cool how it works.

I did a test on a picture of the Hollywood sign I took... figuring it would be the type of picture people might use unauthorized. I didn't find my picture being used... but it was amazing the list of photo that looked very close to mine... two of which I actually had to study to insure they weren't mine.

Current version seems to work well... and the browser plugin lets you right-click on an image to find others..

Check it out : http://tineye.com/

Hmm. I ran across this months ago, and didn't really use it because the database was so small... searching through it again, I still can't find any of my images, but I know there are copies in other places. Disappointing. :( It has potential though.

I wanted to bump this thread back up. It was a Kim Komando Cool Site of the Day last weekend. They say they have 1 billion images to compare a sample to. They also have browser plug-ins which may be new since this thread started. In any case, new TPF users may be interested since copyright is a common topic.

Funny you should bring this up...

Clearchannel emailed me and told me that they found a couple sites using my images of one of their 'Pre-Labor day Pregnant Bikini Contest' they had me to shoot from 5 years ago. (long story, but it's gotten uber popular here in Houston)

It found sites all over the world...most with my site/credit attached however some with the credit blurred out and in one case a blog site info put over mine. (blogspot.com got a nice email from me and is working on deleting the content)

From reading translations of many of the blogs, it seems the rest of the world is shocked and apalled by this event... that really surprises me!

I thought it was all in good fun and tastefully done.

I can imagine...every year Clearchannel ends up turning down women because of how many want to compete...they love it. I think they cap it off at 20 or 25 women.

Most bloggers have been using the images in false pretense in hopes of creating an extra bit of traffic to their blogs...trying to play it out looking like a freak show. idiots.
