Okay, annual business card redo - 07-06-2008, 09:41 AM

I'm kind of bored with my current business cards and I've come away with some new images over the last year that I think might work a bit better. This is the first one that I've put together and am wondering what your thoughts might be.

Ouch.... now that I look at it on the web I see that her hair is almost completely lost in the background. I'll see what I can do to lighten that up.

The design looks good to me, but here's what I would do differently:

- Right-justify the text so that it strengthens the appearance.
- Include what type(s) of photography it is that you specialize in.
- Set up a forwarding URL, with URL masking, that points to your EM address for a more professional appearance (for example, WSandersPhotography.com).
- Dump the Yahoo email address for a more business-like one; for example, Wes@WSandersPhotography.com.

Domain names are so cheap nowadays, there really no reason not to do it, and it will make you look more professional than a Yahoo address and an EM URL.

Hope that helps!

By looking at the card, I assume you are a portrait and/or wedding photographer. If your not and if you do other things, then the card needs to be changed to reflect that.

Assuming you only do portraits/weddings, then I think it's a start. Generally I don't care for photos on a business card, but I kind a like this one. I would lose the drop shadow, change the phone number to a different font, like the one on your e-mail/website font. Move the phone number, e-mail and web right-justified on the bottom. I also agree about changing the e-mail and getting your own website.

Good luck!

One thing I would change from a marketing standpoint is the scripted font. My eyes have to work to read it. You want your card to stick out in a crowd which you have already done. Now make sure they can easily identify who you are.

The other thing that has already been said, but I want to emphasize is the email and forwarder.

You can buy a domain cheap its $9.99 for a year. If you go in you can easily setup a masked forwarder in the control panel for your domain. Also you can get email hosting for FREE from Google. Its Google apps, I love them. Its basically gmail for business and branded with your name. Example, our email to check it is http://mail.onmarkgroup.com.

If you go that route id be glad to offer any assistance if you need it.

Even the second one is dark enough her hair is lost on screen at least. It might be fine actually printed. I also agree the script font is not too easily read. Also, the staring off up into space looking for E.T. pose that seems so common doesn't work. I'm not sure if it's due to commonality or what but if she were looking straight into the camera it would be much stronger at least to me.

I must agree with most of what was said before. Get your own domain name, they are cheap. With GoDaddy.com you can set up an email address that forwards to your Yahoo! account or better yet, just point your email bowser to their mail server. Yahoo!, gmail, etc. accounts give you an air total amateur. Furthermore, someone who is too cheap to represent yourself as a professional.

Use you new web page to point to your exposuremanager.com web page. You galleries look nice but your web page should tell people about your services. Do you do portraits, weddings, pets, specialize in children, etc. Also let people know some of your base charges for sittings, consultations, location shoots, etc.

The script font looks nice but card scanners cannot read them. Stick to a nice block font like Arial or Currier.

I like justified text over centered. I am not sure about the right vs. left justified text as being a strengthening agent.

You do nice work but I am not sure I would hire you based on what I have seen so far. I know nothing about you or your business.
