Going Green - 07-08-2008, 05:14 PM

Aside from the political/moral sidebar static, I see a growing trend on brands talking about how "green" they are. It's not a central part of most ad gab that I have seen for the most part, unless you're an energy company. But it seems like an area that may need to be addressed for some potential high-end clients.

Without cracking a lot of jokes, could some of us put some brainstorming on this topic as to how it is applied to a studio? Feel free and start another thread in the Open Talk area if you want to explore the joke side. Could be pretty funny.

Back to point, I came up with a few:
1. No more chemicals "down the drain" since we went digital.
2. Projection presentations (or web-proofing if that is your style) instead of wasting trees on proofs.
3. Use of rechargable batteries when ever possible and recycling when not.

...after that, I'm kinda stuck.

Projection presentations and web-proofing are probably the biggest selling point you can make. Digital photographers aren't primary consumers of most resources, electricity excepted...

Offer a post-consumer content paper for prints if you can get it.

Using strobes or cool lights rather than constant, hot lights: saves energy and the bulbs last longer.

All of my marketing and info pages are emailed as pdf's and what I do print is on recycled paper aside from the pictures themselves.
