Online Hosting/Printing w/ Watermark? - 08-11-2008, 08:41 PM

ok ive read the sticky above. I've even searched this forum for printroom.com and other sites. And now my head hurts.

I would like to be able to upload a gallery online. I would like that gallery to have a watermark on it to avoid *right click, save as, print at walgreens.*

I would like the client to be able to pay online, and us receive a part of the sales.

I'd been using Mpix to print. No complaints. I don't care a whole lot if i have to do the actual order fulfillment.... unless you can recommend someone who actually has great quality printing and does the hosting and takes the payment too and gives me money, lol. I thought I'd found something great in printroom.com til i came here and read some threads about the paper they use, and i was less than pleased to be reading that. I even saw the thing about using paypal and coppermine. which was pretty cool! but all the links were expired.

I'm not asking much am i?

anywho, looking for something soon, as i have a wedding im going to need to upload within the next 2 weeks. please give me some ideas

ive never been thoroughly impressed with smugmug. tho ive never personally ordered anything through them...just reading features and prices, i always shoved them aside. and if i was reading correctly, they use the same paper from ezprints that printroom.com uses? which makes me :( exposure manager was one i saw mentioned alot in the threads i read from searching tho, so ill read more about it tomorrow. thanks!

I use the EOS template. I use Jalbum to create it, and I host it on my own server. It only cost $100, one time for the software. You can use paypal to accept credit cards, or they have several different options for payment.

You can also use it offline at an event.

We use Collages.net. Everything's watermarked with "Proof" and right clicking is disabled. They allow you to fulfill your own orders (which we do) or they'll just do it for you. They have a ton of stuff, too.

so on self-fulfilled orders do they take the clients money and send you a check, minus a percentage? or how does that work? how does it work if they fulfill the order?

im to the point where i need to get these things setup this week...not expecting to sell but maybe less than 10 pictures. So im not TOO concerned, just more curious for the future. :) thanks!

If I recall it was a pretty fast setup with them, so it's not out of reach to get it done this week!

My husband knows all of the exact details, but I am pretty sure this is right.

It costs $10 for up to 100 photos, and $40 for up to 1500. Or something like that. They have a service charge (15%). We just add the service charge into the cost of the print. (So a $25 print would be $29)

They will take the money and do the processing, then you can get the payment from them electronically, I believe. We've never gotten a paper check from them. I think it would be almost the same thing if they do the fulfillment, just minus what you have to pay for the products.

Smugmug also supports these requirements, Although the watermark will appear on the displayed photos, it will not be in the print. I have been very pleased with Smugmug.

Oh yeah, just to be clear...the prints won't have watermarks on them unless it's part of the image.

How does the quality of Smugmug prints stand up to that of MPIX? I love MPIX quality but I too am looking for a site that will do it all, I just want to make sure that I am getting the same quality. Also, how about photo pricing? Is it in the same ball park?

Pictology is free, offers water mark, disables right click and offers printing services. They have pro plans if you want several events posted at once, but free is a good way to try them out.

I use exposure manager and I have nothing but good to say about them. I have never had a disapointed client when using them.

Does exposure manager have like a free trial or anything? I dont wanna set up something for like $100 just for this and then have it sit for a few months til i can do something with it, lol

I did register with collages.net and it looked pretty good...just havent had time to sit down and fiddle with all of them yet. trying to finish up the pics i need to put up there and i have a few more to do :)
