Renting Studio Space - 08-12-2008, 12:36 PM

Just a little question here:
I am at the point that I need a studio, just not every day. If everything goes according to my business plan, I will need a FT dedicated studio by July of '09.

So until then, is it unprofessional looking to my clients to rent studio space on an as needed basis?

I have a room at my church that I can use anytime I like as long as there are no church functions going on. With the way I schedule sessions, that shouldn't be a problem.

I haven't had a complaint yet, but I worry about my clients thinking they are paying the church and not me or something like that.

Any ideas on renting "as needed"?

It does send a conflicted message. Why not go to the clients home or shoot strictly on location? When we had no studio, we made it into a novelty that we would bring the studio to them. This is especially good if you are shooting young children, b/c they are more relaxed in their home. In other words, there is a logical reason why you'd offer it as a service - and people paid extra for it and bragged about it to their friends. The in-home baby photography trend is big right now. Just a suggestion.
