Custom Watermark - 10-05-2008, 08:38 PM

How do you make something with a design or something fancier than just your name in plain text across your picture...I see so many photos with cool little logos or designs with their watermark... probably use photoshop or something I bet but I am clueless on that program!! LOL ( i am in the process of learning it!)

I made and imported logos into Photoshop many times for use in video projects and once you get the hang of transparency and layering you will find it very ease.

That is how you would do it. Create a logo in Photoshop with a transparent background. Open the picture you want to place a logo on. Copy and paste the logo over the copy new photo. You may have to adjust the size and change the opacity. It's all about layering.

Some web sites like Smug Mug let you create a logo as a DNG file and save it on the web site. Then you can automatically place it over all your images. Sounds complicated but once you get the hang of layers you will find it very easy. Always save a PSD file of the final logo and of the image and the logo and then you can always come back and make changes. then save a copy as a JPG. Never use the original image, make a copy.

I know this sounded clear as mud and I am sure I left something out. If I did someone will notice and correct me. It seems that learning Photoshop is like medicine, it is an ongoing process.
