Just curious what some of you charge for for a 5 X 7 or an 8 X 10? I have seen prices from $10 to $185 per print and am just curious. Thanks for your help.

Well I look at it this way.

A photograph is an investment not just a snapshot, as a professional we are giving our clients more than just a piece of paper we are giving them a moment in time which will be handed down to their family members for generations.

So let me ask you this, a family of four orders pizza for one night for a dinner around the table, this pizza costs approximately $40 bucks.

WHY IN THE WORLD would you charge less for an investment which will last lifetimes and give endless enjoyment and stories than what that same family ate for dinner the night before and gave their family pet the leftovers?

VALUE your work, your art and your clients will in turn do the same for not only themselves but for their family and friends.

If you want your phone to ring more, take your price list of your site. Unless you are trying to be the lowest price in town.

Well said Mikey.

I also noticed if you dont charge enough that the client KNOWS they are not paying for paper and ink, they constantly think they are paying for paper and ink.

Get this. I heard a story a while back about a guy who will travel anywhere within the US, photograph a family at the location of their choice, and provide a framed family portrait for as much as $3K to $5K, something they would hang over the fireplace in their luxury home. Needless to say, his clientele are the wealthier folks (CEOs, doctors, lawyers, millionaires, etc.). Good for him and them.
