crap, I sent out a disk today on accident to a client who has not yet paid. (in a cd mailed with extra postage. Is there a way to stop that disk? The mail came early by my house today. (Denton, TX).

crap crap crap.
I called and the first person I talked to was nice and like oh yeah, there might be a way to do that.
and then she put me on with the supervisor who was like. NO WAY!

i'm going to try to find him on his route. haha.

From my experience, being raised by a letter carrier, once it is in the hands of the Post Office, it must be delivered to the addressee. A letter carrier cannot give a piece of mail to someone if you even stop them on their route.

you may need to contact the client and ask them to kindly return the package (say it was mailed to them by mistake - which is true). Because taking it out of their mail box I believe would be a crime - and I doubt the carrier will just hand it over...

Yep.
Ask them to put "return to sender" on it and mail it back. Don't tell them what's it is.
I think most people would send it back without questions.

started out with a nice short conversation, had an example of the cd mailers I use with me. had my license out with my address on it which matched the return address, and pointed it out in his truck. "that one". :)
