Business Card Help! :) - 12-30-2008, 12:00 AM

Hey - I'm designing my very first business card and would LOVE to get some feedback from others in the field. The top is the front of the card, and then single b/w pic on the back with website at bottom.

Thanks a ton! :)

I like it very much. Simple, ease to read. The image tells me you shoot children.

Simple, clean, very nice font selection except for your name.. I find myself struggling to read it, but that just might be the size it is here.

A good trick is to hold a business card up next to your screen and use the zoomin/zoomout tools until the card displayed on your screen is about the same size... that way you can see if the fonts are big enough and easy enough to read without having to print one.

Make sure you look at it from the standpoint of someone who has not seen your card before... don't just skim over something because you know what it says. (I've had fonts that were too small before and had to trash an entire batch.... also went through half a pile of consulting cards once before someone pointed out to me that it said "Winidows" .. bah)

Hello Ashlee,

Looks good, I agree with Brad.....
Try to print out a few cards and see how it looks and then pass some out to friends that have not seen them....
ask them if they can read it with no problem. Then you can make your final decision from the outcome... good luck

The card design is awesome.

Have you tried it with other photos, though? It's a cute one, but the edge of something on the left side is hard for me to discern what it is. In that regard, for me at least, it's not a "quick read." Might be more of a grabber if we could see eyes, with perfect catchlights. But designwise, I agree you're on the right track.

Maybe Photography should be bigger depending on if a card is left somewhere.

I dont know who Ashlee is and I dont care as I happen to quickly glance at her buisness card somewhere. I know what photography is though and since I want some portraits of my son I pick up her card, because the bigger PHOTOGRAPHY caught my attention.

I agree with Tom.
Also if this is going to be a fold, don't forget that one of them needs to be upside down.

I agree too. Photography is too big. You're selling YOU, not the name 'photography'. Clean card though, even though I'm not a fan of picture cards.

Thanks so much for all the input! I'm going to play around a bit more with different fonts, sizes, and pictures... My thought on the font size of "photography" was so that people would pick the card up if I leave them somewhere... (something to grab their eye) but I see y'all's point! I'm happy to be a part of this forum... :)
