i'm getting a new quote from hill and usher..but have a question regarding software...

if you use the software for business AND personal - is it claimable?

The software you should be able to recover for the cost of the media. I would think.

Yes. If you are sole proprietor, you are the business. An insurance company will not deny a claim because you were using the computer for personal reasons at the time of loss(I am assuming you have an Inland Marine 'all-risk' policy). You will however run into problems insuring some things, like software. I wasn't able to get coverage on my Windows Vista, XP, Quicken, and stuff like that when I applied for it. My Lightroom and Photoshop suite were covered though.
