"I'm sorry, but my work computer will not allow me to view my daughters photos. Will you please send me the photos so I can view them?" .....yeah and do what else with them. Yes I have been turned into a non trustworthy business owner. People I know well have screwed me over, thus I don't trust people, and this person I don't know from Adam. So I can't tell her the real truth...so how do I be polite...so she will at least order some photos??

Do you have a laptop onto which you can load the images, then meet with her for a viewing session?

you have been turned into a non-trusting business owner

To be fair to her, my work computer won't let me view 90% of photos either. I like the idea of sitting down with a laptop and viewing with her, maybe even offer to buy her lunch/coffee over the viewing to soften it. I would phrase it: "Sorry you can't see them, there are some really good ones on there. If you're available, I can load these onto my laptop and we can go through them over lunch/coffee - my treat. Does wednesday work well for you, or would a weekend work better?"

If I were your customer, I'd bite on that, it shows that you're willing to go over and above to service your customer, and you're protected in case she's thinking about screwing you.

Ok, but I think you guys are missing something. Obviously if she can't see them on the computer she has...she won't be able to see them on a disc either (you need a computer for that too). And from the quote...she didn't ask for a disc.

So...perhaps she is asking for proofs? 90% of the world is not as computer savvy as us and proofs is the way it's been done for years and years. Some clarification is needed.

I might be missing something here. Did she say why she was not able to view them?

most likely the work computer has the site blocked. very, very common.

Have her/him try again once they get home.

If you send them put a big watermark on them. Also how many are you talking about? If it is less than 5 then maybe I would but watermarked.

Her words "I am unable to view your web-site at work and have been unable to view my daughters photos.
Is it possible for you to email me photos of her so that I can choose.

My daughter is XXXXXXXXXXXX. I would like to order."

Like I said...two or three years ago, I would have emailed the photos without any questions. I "used" to be very trusting...because I know who I am. People I know well, aren't afraid to do things they know they shouldn't be doing...

Note...went to a photography workshop, where a photographer complained about her photos being copied and the like...then talked about copying a CS3 disc from a friend to use to edit her photos...I had to pull the duct tape out to keep my mouth shut...because I woudn't have been nice.

Most likely she is in an environment like my sister. The hospital blocks all commercial sites as non-work related. I like the idea of GTG with the client. A nice middle ground. -G

She said 'at work.' Maybe you are blocked and she doesnt have access to another computer.

Plan A: If she cannot view the proofs online, she is welcome to come to you and view them on your computer.

Plan B:Otherwise, for an additional $, you can print paper proofs for her to review at her leisure.

Be sure to specify proofs are used for ordering purposes and the paper proofs will have a watermark PROOF on them. Some people have trouble with online stuff. If she works with a computer it is highly unlikely that she is computer incompetent. And there is being non-trusting and being smart. They tend to overlap a lot imho. ;o)

I know feel she probably really couldn't see them at work. So I sent her a note and offered to meet her....we'll see what she says.

Or email the with giant "(C)" watermarks on them in grey. That way they can see the image, just not useful to print out. (i.e. "Proof" mark them)

YOu will also undoubtedly get a bigger sale with your one on one presentation.
You'll get a good feel for the ones she likes/dislikes and push the ones she likes.

you could always print some contact sheets, but it sounds like the GTG will be the best way, make a sale right there.
