Word connotations are extremely powerful. Depending upon your target demographic, there are very few things that can separate a photographer from competition. Some clients wish to be completely unique in their choices. A photographer can help confirm this decision for them with precise wording that confirms to the client in their own mind that they did indeed make the correct, unique choice.

Also, in confirmation of Aric's post, the word is #1 and photographic prints are #2 in conveying power. The next time you see a natural disaster such as Ike, Katrina or a midwest tornado, see how many people say these words - "we had no warning, we weren't even able to get our photos before we left." They don't worry about clothes, appliances or electronics - it's the family prints they mourne the loss of.

You gotta love TPF.
It's the only photography forum I know where you don't have to know the difference between an F-stop and a Bus-stop, but we can argue for weeks over whether to use 'pricing' or 'investment' in our advertising.....

p.s. yes Don, there IS a difference between an f-stop and a bus stop...

I only changed it 'cause someone brought it to my attention that some people on here take the PPA "VERY" seriously and probably wouldn't get my joke behind the statement.....

Tom, that reminds me of a funny story that goes back to my days at Foley's. When Southwestern Camera was still around in Houston, that's where we got most of our 4x5 and 8x10 Transparancy Film from and when ever we would get new assistants, we would send them to pick up supplies and on the list would be "half a dozen boxes of f/stops"..... I'll let you use your imagination of what transpired from there.

Who's arguing? Use it, or don't. Pretty simple.

Oh, and Greg.. its generally considered poor form to repost something that someone else has already deleted.

I'll quite often ask a camera store person (one that doesn't know me) where they keep the pixels 'cause I am running low.

Well maybe I should have described it as a heated disagreement, or a difference of opinion, or a reconsideration of an obsolete idea, or ... hell, it was an argument...... Sorry, I'm obfuscating again...

That's exactly why I don't take the bus.
I'm afraid of what I might catch.

If I list my prices, and you do not like them, then you will not call, and that's my decision and your choice.

However, if you call and I tell you my prices, and you tell me you do not like them, then I have the opportunity to refer you to another photographer. In return, perhaps that photographer will refer me in the future.

As a business owner, I try very hard to give myself the opportunity to refer business to my friends.

My husband & I both make good salaries and I have no problem with spending money when I believe I am receiving a quality product, but you are offering a service that has a price. Sure I can call you and ask, but I won't. I'll just move on to another photographer who DOES list their prices. I am a busy person and will not spend time calling to solicit information that I should have been available on your website!

I'll roll my eyes if you call it an "Investment", but LIST it! I'd still call if I like your work and choose to hire you. Again.. just an opinion from a prospective customer.
