Sole Photographer Clause - 02-23-2009, 08:05 PM

How would one word a clause to prevent others present who may or may not be professional at a shoot (I'm thinking of MUAs and the like who do their own photography at modeling shoots) from having any right to post the images?

Something that would essentially mean this is my shoot and no other cameras or recording devices are allowed?

I think you answered your own question. Multiple cameras mess with the subject and will make it difficult for you to do your work. When hiring a model, you can set the parameters and run things they way you want them. And dont be surprised if you have to remind them to put away cameras. Some people will keep going until you stop them. Others sincerely forgot or werent told. No big. Remind them and let it roll off.

What are you afraid of? I mean that sincerely. Did something happen or are you afraid someone will get credit for something you created?

The only time I mind is when their flash is setting off strobes.

If the MUA is paid then tell them they can't shoot. If they were not paid they would consider creating their own images as part of their compensation. I have seen studios with a sign on the door or in the camera room stating NO CAMERAS ALLOWED, AND THIS INCLUDES CAMERA PHONES.

A polite but firm " I'd appreciate it if no one took any photographs without my permission" should work.
If it doesn't work, ask the offenders to leave because they are disturbing your shoot.

I saw a camera room once with a big sign that said " NO PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED"

No, there are some MUAs who do some really poor photography of their own excellent makeup. I don't want them to take and edit there own poor images of my shoot. I'm more than happy to provide fully-edited images for trade work; however, I do not want their poor images involved in a shoot that I was hired for.

Thanks all, I'm trying to get it into some form of legalese to add to my model releases and such.

Hmm, never had that happen. Seems like they'd rather have your pics. Good luck.

Have you tried throwing their cameras on the ground and smashing them to bits while saying," your pictures are garbage"?

Model releases are already too long.

don't forget:

No gum chewing.
No loud music.
No vulgar language.
No flatulence.
No being late.
No no shows.
No attitudes
No ugly models
No divas
No managers
No huffy moms
No anchovies
No nothing.

That made me laugh!

By the way, have you tried just telling all the assistants that you don't want any cameras out besides yours? Then ask for their email addresses and let them know you can send them some images for their book. Done.

By the way: I've never had this problem, but I guess it could happen, as you have mentioned...
